RamadanIA Hackathon in Tangier honors three innovative AI projects

The RamadanIA Hackathon concluded in Tangier with the announcement of three winning projects that showcased innovative uses of artificial intelligence to address social and economic challenges in Morocco.

The closing ceremony was attended by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. The initiative forms part of a national effort to encourage technological creativity and develop local talent in artificial intelligence across different regions of the country.

Organized throughout the holy month of Ramadan, the hackathon brought together young developers, entrepreneurs, and students who collaborated to design digital solutions aimed at improving services and promoting technological inclusion. The program also sought to strengthen regional development by ensuring that innovation opportunities are accessible across the Kingdom.

At the Tangier final stage, three teams were recognized for their projects. The Territorial Impact and Public Utility Award was granted to the team “Chafafia” for a platform designed to optimize logistics chains in the transport and maritime sectors.

The Innovation and Creativity Award went to the team “Brain” for their project “Forsa IA,” an artificial intelligence solution that helps users access job opportunities more easily, including through messaging platforms such as WhatsApp.

The Grand Prize of the RamadanIA Hackathon for the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region was awarded to the team “Ichara” for developing a tool that translates sign language into written Moroccan Arabic, also known as Darija. The project aims to improve communication and accessibility for people with hearing impairments.

The RamadanIA initiative highlights Morocco’s growing interest in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. By supporting emerging talent and innovative ideas, the program aims to strengthen the country’s technology ecosystem and encourage practical solutions that benefit society.
