Regragui Sounds the Alarm as Injuries Threaten Morocco's AFCON Hopes
Morocco's head coach, Walid Regragui, has issued a stern warning to his players: one mistake against South Africa could shatter their African Cup of Nations dreams.
The Atlas Lions are poised to advance to the quarterfinals but face a formidable Round of 16 challenge against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday. Regragui emphasized in his pre-match press conference that there is "no room for error" against the talented South Africans.
"Any mistake will eliminate us from the competition, and we will be out," warned Regragui firmly, underlining the high stakes. He made it clear that the Lions are well aware of the daunting challenge that awaits them at the Stade San Pedro in Douala.
Unfortunately for Morocco, injuries have deprived them of key creators. Playmaker Sofiane Boufal will miss the crucial clash due to an ankle problem, prematurely ending his AFCON journey. There are also concerns about influential winger Hakim Ziyech, although Regragui remains hopeful he could still play a role.
While acknowledging South Africa's threat, having suffered a defeat to them in a friendly last year, Regragui believes his players are prepared for the challenge.
