Romanian Firm Opens New Auto Parts Factory in Morocco
MP Industry Group, a Romanian automotive supplier, officially inaugurated its first factory in Morocco on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the country's automotive sector. Situated within Tanger Automotive City (TAC), the new facility is a testament to Morocco's growing appeal as a global manufacturing hub. Spanning 35,000 square meters, the factory will focus on producing plastic components for the automotive industry, utilizing advanced injection molding technology.
The project, which involves a substantial investment of 437.62 million dirhams, is expected to create 150 direct jobs. The inauguration ceremony, which drew several prominent figures, including Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour and Ahmed Bennis, CEO of Tanger Med Zones (TMZ), underscored the importance of this development. Minister Mezzour highlighted the project's role within the Renault ecosystem, emphasizing Morocco's growing industrial appeal and the expansion of its local value chains. He further stated that the new factory would strengthen the country's productive fabric, enhancing its manufacturing capabilities.
Bennis echoed this sentiment, expressing pride in the partnership with MP Industry and Romanian investors. He added that the factory would not only contribute to Morocco's industrial integration but also boost the global competitiveness of the automotive sector within the country.
Jean Drugescu, CEO of Metaplast and MP Industry Group, shared an optimistic outlook for the company’s future in Morocco. “With the automotive sector’s expansion and the potential of African markets, MP Industry Group is poised for a bright future, particularly in Morocco,” he remarked.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the new factory also emphasizes sustainability. The facility incorporates photovoltaic panels and plastic waste recycling lines, positioning it as an eco-conscious contributor to the automotive industry. This investment is expected to play a vital role in reinforcing Morocco's position as a key player in the global automotive market.
The opening of this factory aligns with Morocco's broader strategy to enhance its industrial sector, particularly in the automotive industry, and to attract more international investments that foster long-term growth and job creation.
