In Odesa, a Russian drone strike killed a teacher and her husband, injuring 14 others, including three critically ill individuals, one of whom is a child. In eastern Donetsk, two people lost their lives in attacks on the villages of Kostiantynivka and Ivanopillia. Explosions were also reported in Kyiv late Saturday, prompting the city’s mayor to urge residents to seek shelter from incoming Russian drones.
The Russian Defence Ministry announced that its forces have captured Chervona Zirka in Donetsk and secured territory between the Vovcha and Mokri Yaly rivers. However, Ukraine’s top commander Oleksandr Syrskii indicated that despite Russia’s advance toward Kostiantynivka, they have suffered heavy losses without significant gains.
In Russia’s Kursk region, a Ukrainian drone attack injured a 43-year-old man, including serious brain trauma. Ukraine’s security service reported a strike on a military airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea, destroying helicopters and missile systems. Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have shot down 64 Ukrainian drones in western Russia and Crimea overnight.
On the diplomatic front, Poland’s outgoing president, Andrzej Duda, visiting Kyiv, requested patience during the transition to his nationalist successor, Karol Nawrocki, whom Ukraine’s president promised to invite once in office. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s parliamentary speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk announced plans to draft legislation for elections following the end of the war.
