South Korea: K-pop star Nana subdues home intruder during burglary
K-pop singer and actress Nana, whose real name is Im Jin-ah, subdued a burglar who broke into her home near Seoul, South Korean police reported on Sunday. The 34-year-old star managed to overpower the intruder with the help of her mother, allowing officers to arrest the suspect on the spot.
According to investigators from the Guri Police Station, the man in his thirties entered the artist’s residence early Saturday morning with the intention of stealing valuables. “Nana and her mother overpowered the burglar after a physical struggle, leading to his arrest,” an officer told AFP. The suspect has since been charged with aggravated theft.
Both Nana and her mother were injured during the altercation. While the singer suffered minor injuries, her mother sustained serious wounds and is being treated in hospital, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Nana debuted in 2009 as a member of the girl group After School before gaining widespread popularity through the sub-unit Orange Caramel. Their 2014 hit Catallena has accumulated more than 35 million views on YouTube. Alongside her music career, she has built a successful acting portfolio, landing lead roles in several television dramas.
