Spanish teen investigated for creating AI-generated fake nudes of classmates
A 17-year-old boy in eastern Spain is being investigated by the Guardia Civil after allegedly creating and sharing AI-generated nude images of his female schoolmates, which he reportedly attempted to sell online.
The case originated in Valencia's Ribera Alta region, when a female student alerted authorities in December 2024 after discovering a social media account using her name and featuring a digitally altered video that depicted her nude.
According to the Guardia Civil, the images were created using artificial intelligence to manipulate original photos of underage girls, making them appear completely naked. These images were shared through fake accounts and websites aimed at commercial exploitation.
As more victims came forward—15 minors in total—investigators began to suspect a fellow classmate was behind the fake content. Through detailed digital forensics, including IP tracing and data requests to hosting platforms, authorities identified the suspect, a student at the same school as the victims.
The teenager is now under judicial investigation for corruption of minors, with the case being overseen by a juvenile court in Valencia.
This is not the first such incident in Spain. In 2024, fifteen boys in Extremadura received probation sentences for using AI to create similar fake nude images of girls and distributing them via WhatsApp. They were also ordered to attend awareness sessions on gender equality and responsible digital behavior.
Organizations such as the Malvaluna Association have stressed the broader societal implications of such cases. The association highlighted the urgent need for gender education and comprehensive sex education, arguing that many teens rely on pornography for sexual knowledge, which fosters misogyny and violence.
In response to these developments, Spain’s government announced in March 2025 that it is preparing legislation to criminalize non-consensual AI-generated sexual content and online grooming, aiming to better protect minors in the digital space.
