The High Commission for Planning (HCP) marked the World Statistics Day on October 20–21, 2025, in Rabat, in partnership with Bank Al-Maghrib and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The celebration took place under the theme “Empowering Change Through Quality Data for All.”

The event gathered representatives from national and local public institutions, academia, the private sector, and international partners such as the World Bank, OECD, INSEE, and Statistics Denmark. Participants emphasized the need to transform Morocco’s national statistical system into an integrated, open, and interoperable framework. This transformation, they noted, requires stronger inter-institutional coordination and innovation, particularly through the use of alternative data sources and artificial intelligence.

Speakers highlighted the essential role of statistical data in shaping public policy, territorial planning, and sustainable development. “Data are not merely numbers—they are drivers of change, tools of transparency and social justice, and bridges toward effective and inclusive public policies,” they stated.

Discussions also focused on the development of early warning dashboards to support Morocco’s economic and demographic transformation. Additionally, participants proposed the creation of a statistical governance committee to strengthen coherence, synergy, and the adoption of shared standards across the system.
Finally, ensuring access to microdata, while maintaining confidentiality, was identified as a key factor in promoting research and innovation.
