Türkiye strengthens healthcare through AI and digital innovation
Türkiye is accelerating its digital transformation in the healthcare sector, introducing advanced artificial intelligence solutions to improve diagnosis, treatment, and overall patient management. During the Eurasia Health Informatics and Technologies Conference held in Antalya, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu highlighted the country’s steady progress toward becoming a global reference in digital health.
According to the Minister, Türkiye’s efforts over the past decades have reshaped the foundations of its health system. Under the Healthy Türkiye Century vision, the government aims not only to adopt digital tools but to turn health data into actionable knowledge and national value. This strategy reflects the growing need for healthcare systems to adapt rapidly to global demographic shifts and evolving patient expectations.
One of the most notable achievements is the expansion of digitally integrated hospitals. By 2025, nine hospitals have reached EMRAM Level 7, the highest international standard for digital hospital maturity, while hundreds more have achieved Level 6. These advancements support safer and faster clinical operations, extending high-quality digital services across the country.
Digitalization has also empowered citizens through platforms such as e-Nabız, a nationwide personal health record system. Patients can now access medical results, including X-rays and CT scans, directly from their phones—a significant step forward from the traditional reliance on physical films.
Türkiye is also developing domestic AI solutions through collaborations with TÜSEB and ASELSAN. Key projects include:
- ARİS, an AI-assisted mobile X-ray system capable of rapid image interpretation in critical settings.
- METRA, an AI tool supporting mammography screening for more than a million women annually.
- RADİS, a decision-support system that recommends appropriate imaging procedures based on clinical guidelines.
Minister Memişoğlu emphasized that innovation is encouraged at every stage, from idea development to product commercialization. By prioritizing national production and technological independence, Türkiye aims to build a resilient and forward-looking health industry.
The conference, which gathered over 1,000 participants from 17 countries, underscored the growing global interest in digital health innovations and Türkiye’s emerging role as a regional leader.
