Airports in Copenhagen and Oslo were forced to suspend operations on Monday after multiple unidentified drones were spotted flying over restricted airspace, triggering serious security concerns.

According to Danish police, “three or four large drones” were observed over Copenhagen Airport, while similar incidents were reported in Oslo, leading to several hours of closure. Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that the operator appeared to be “competent,” but their identity remains unknown.

The closures caused major disruption, affecting around 20,000 passengers in Denmark and forcing the rerouting of several flights. Oslo Airport reopened early Tuesday morning, but both airports warned that delays would continue until schedules stabilized.

The incidents come at a time of heightened vigilance across Europe, following repeated airspace violations by Russian aircraft in NATO member states such as Poland and Estonia. Danish and Norwegian security services, backed by military and intelligence agencies, are now coordinating their investigations to determine whether the drone activity was part of a larger hostile operation.
