Morocco Unveils Ambitious Hassan II Stadium Design for 2030 World Cup Bid

In an exclusive reveal, Euronews has obtained footage showcasing the innovative design of Morocco's Hassan II Stadium, a cornerstone of the nation's 2030 World Cup campaign. The video, released for the first time, offers a glimpse into the ambitious project set to commence construction in October.

The stadium's architecture draws inspiration from traditional Moroccan tents, paying homage to the country's rich 'moussem' culture. This unique blend of modernity and heritage is the brainchild of Moroccan engineer Tarik Oulaalou, working in collaboration with renowned British firm Populous.

Situated in Benslimane, near Casablanca, the stadium will occupy a sprawling 100-hectare site. The project, with an estimated investment of $500 million, is scheduled for completion by late 2028, well in advance of the 2030 World Cup co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the Hassan II Stadium is its unprecedented capacity. According to Euronews, the venue will accommodate an astounding 115,000 spectators, setting a new global standard for sports arenas. This unparalleled scale promises to create an electrifying atmosphere for the world's most prestigious football tournament.

Fouzi Lekjaa, President of Morocco's Football Federation (FRMF), has expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing it as "exceptional by all standards" and asserting that it will become "the largest and finest football landmark in the world."

As Morocco gears up for its role as a World Cup host, the Hassan II Stadium stands as a testament to the nation's commitment to excellence in sports infrastructure. This architectural marvel not only promises to elevate the fan experience but also showcases Morocco's ability to seamlessly blend its cultural heritage with cutting-edge design.

With its ambitious scale and innovative approach, the Hassan II Stadium is poised to become a symbol of Morocco's footballing aspirations and a crowning jewel in the country's World Cup preparations.
