Morocco: A Key Bridge Between Africa and Europe

The Italian Ambassador to Morocco, Armando Barucco, highlighted Morocco's pivotal role as a bridge connecting Europe and Africa. Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco has positioned itself as a central hub for both continents, with significant developments in infrastructure and contributions to stability in the Sahel region.

In an interview with Italpress TV, Ambassador Barucco emphasized Morocco's vast investment opportunities, particularly in infrastructure and major projects. He noted that Morocco is an essential gateway for Italian businesses looking to expand into Africa, offering a diverse range of opportunities in sectors like the economy, commerce, and industry.

The Ambassador also stressed Morocco's importance in security collaboration, describing the Kingdom as a "fundamental" partner in this field. He further praised the exceptional growth in bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and commercial relations, which surged following the post-Covid period. He encouraged Italian investors to seize the opportunities in Morocco, which will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

Additionally, Barucco highlighted Morocco’s role as a leader in renewable energy and energy transition. The Kingdom's involvement in the Mattei Plan supports African nations through its triangular cooperation program, helping them navigate energy transitions and promoting regional integration.

The Ambassador outlined a wide array of cooperative sectors between the two countries, such as the automotive industry, healthcare, training, waste management, railways, desalination, scientific research, and joint project development.

Furthermore, Barucco applauded Morocco's modernization and investments across various fields, from infrastructure and communication technologies to renewable and green energy. He also announced that Morocco would soon host a representative office of "La Cassa Depositi e Prestiti," making it one of the few countries to have a presence of this Italian public institution dedicated to financing projects in various sectors.
