Akdital denies claims over Rabat clinic closure and reaffirms compliance certification
Akdital, Morocco’s leading private healthcare group, has firmly rejected reports suggesting that authorities closed its Agdal clinic in Rabat for lacking a compliance certificate.
According to Akdital’s communications officer, Abdelkoddous Hafsi, the claims circulating in local media are “factually inaccurate.” He explained that the Agdal clinic temporarily halted operations in June for urban planning reasons unrelated to regulatory violations. Hafsi added that the facility obtained all required compliance documents before it began operations.
The clarification followed reports alleging that regional authorities in Rabat-Salé had forced the closure, accusing Akdital of opening the clinic without proper certification. The coverage suggested that the situation posed a risk to patient safety and reflected broader shortcomings in municipal oversight.
Despite the controversy, Akdital continues its rapid expansion. In 2024 alone, the group launched twelve new medical centers across Morocco, significantly increasing its national presence. Its network now extends to Khouribga, Marrakech, Essaouira, Tetouan, Errachidia, Taroudant, Dakhla, Kenitra, Benguerir, and Meknes.
With over 3,500 doctors and 3,700 hospital beds, Akdital generated nearly MAD 3 billion ($295 million) in revenue last year. The company aims to operate 62 facilities across 32 Moroccan cities by 2027, providing more than 6,000 beds and cementing its position as Morocco’s most extensive healthcare provider.
