Moroccan Prime Minister and leader of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Aziz Akhannouch, emphasized on Saturday in Marrakech the government’s progress in the fields of health and education. Speaking during the fifth stage of the national communication tour Massar Al Injazat, attended by party officials and local representatives, he described these two sectors as “fundamental pillars” of Morocco’s development agenda.

Akhannouch noted that nearly half of Moroccan schools now operate under the “pioneering schools” model, with the government aiming for full generalization by 2027. This initiative, he said, is expected to significantly improve learning quality and reduce regional inequalities.

In the health sector, Akhannouch highlighted budget increases, the upgrading of university hospitals, and the establishment of territorial health groupings as part of efforts to modernize services. He also cited broader social reforms, including direct social assistance, the expansion of medical coverage, salary increases for public employees and private-sector workers, and measures to curb inflation and support housing.

Beyond social policies, the Prime Minister pointed to strategic infrastructure projects in the Marrakech-Safi region, such as the construction of a desalination plant in Safi to secure drinking water supplies for Marrakech by 2026 and the planned expansion of Marrakech-Menara Airport to boost the city’s connectivity.
