The building housing the Mount Lebanon Commercial Registry in Baabda remains under serious risk of collapse, prompting Lebanese Justice Minister Adel Nassar to cut short his vacation abroad and return urgently to the country, according to the National News Agency (ANI).

The minister cited “ongoing structural issues” as the reason for his visit and emphasized the need to support both employees and citizens affected by the situation. “The minister held several meetings at the Baabda Palace of Justice to follow up on the issue and ensure the necessary measures are taken,” the ANI report stated.

The building, located adjacent to the Baabda Palace of Justice, was evacuated as a precaution in early June due to fears that its structural integrity was compromised. So far, no detailed technical report has been made public, and Minister Nassar has not responded to requests for further information.

In his official statement, Nassar also announced his participation in the upcoming session of the parliamentary Committee on Administration and Justice, which will continue reviewing a key draft law concerning judicial independence. He stressed the importance and sensitivity of the matter, especially in light of ongoing national debates.

The minister also denied rumors that his return was connected to the appointment of new judges, clarifying that judicial nominations are still pending final approval by the Higher Judicial Council.
