The German Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft – BVMW) inaugurated its Morocco office on Friday in Rabat, in the presence of Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane, and BVMW’s Director General in Berlin, Christoph Ahlhaus.

The initiative represents a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties, with the aim of supporting the establishment and growth of German SMEs in Morocco. In collaboration with the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE) and the German international development agency (GIZ), the new office will promote industrial and economic synergies in key sectors such as industry, education, vocational training, job creation, and innovation.

According to Ahlhaus, the move highlights Morocco’s growing attractiveness for European entrepreneurs, pointing to its trade agreements with the EU and other countries, which have already attracted global investors such as Renault and Stellantis. In 2024, Morocco became the EU’s leading exporter of cars and auto parts, ahead of China and Japan.

The Rabat office will also encourage knowledge transfer, technology partnerships, and long-term cooperation between German and Moroccan businesses, with potential spillover effects in wider African markets.
