Bensaid: Nearly 1.2 million young people benefit from the “Youth Pass”
The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, announced that the number of beneficiaries of the “Youth Pass” program has reached 1.2 million young people so far, with around 400,000 using its services daily.
Speaking on Tuesday during a parliamentary Q&A session in the House of Councillors, Bensaid said the program is one of the ministry’s strategic initiatives launched as part of the government’s plan to facilitate young people’s access to various public services, either free of charge or at reduced cost, while simplifying and digitizing procedures.
Initially launched as a pilot project in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, the Youth Pass has been expanded nationwide since early 2025 through partnerships with regional councils, taking into account each region’s specific needs.
Bensaid emphasized that his ministry attaches great importance to improving the situation of young people, particularly through programs that promote social and economic integration and cultural empowerment, especially for NEET youth (those not in education, employment, or training).
He also highlighted other initiatives such as the “Maharat” program, developed in partnership with the National Railway Office (ONCF), which aims to build youth skills and innovation capacity, as well as a youth entrepreneurship support program launched with the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Francophonie (CONFEJES).
The minister further mentioned the National Volunteering Program, which attracts strong participation, with around 5,000 beneficiaries per year and more than 60,000 applications annually, reflecting the dynamism and civic engagement of Moroccan youth.
