Bouskoura, July 26, 2025 – The governor of Nouaceur province has ordered the immediate suspension of Bouchaïb Taha, president of the Bouskoura municipal council and member of the Istiqlal Party (PI, majority), over serious breaches of legal and administrative regulations. The suspension, confirmed by multiple sources, is based on allegations of misconduct related to urban planning permits and local revenue management.

Three other elected officials have also been suspended pending a judicial decision. They include the first vice-president in charge of electrical connection permits, also a member of the Istiqlal Party, a municipal councillor from the National Rally of Independents (RNI), and another from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM).

According to the same sources, the decision was made under Article 64 of Organic Law No. 113.14 governing communes. This law empowers the state representative to request the administrative court to revoke council members who violate legal provisions in public management. It also allows for provisional suspension while awaiting the court's ruling.

Prefectural authorities have reportedly uncovered significant irregularities in the issuance of urban development permits and in the handling of communal tax revenues. The seriousness of these findings has led to the transfer of the case to the administrative court of Casablanca, the only body authorized to rule on a possible removal from office.

Located just south of Casablanca, Bouskoura is part of the Nouaceur prefecture and has become a rapidly growing urban hub, attracting increasing investments. This development requires transparent and legally compliant governance, a standard the authorities believe has not been met in this case.

The administrative court is expected to issue its decision in the coming weeks. If the allegations are confirmed, the suspended officials could be permanently removed from office and banned from running for public positions for the remainder of the current term, in line with Article 64.
