Kid Cudi mesmerizes Mawazine 2025 with a lunar journey in Rabat
On Monday evening, the OLM Souissi stage transformed into an interstellar vessel led by Kid Cudi, the renowned American alternative hip-hop artist, during the 20th edition of the Mawazine – Rhythms of the World festival. In a mood that was both electrifying and introspective, Kid Cudi captivated the Moroccan audience during his debut performance in the country.
Known for his musical explorations marked by melancholy and spiritual elevation, Kid Cudi born Scott Mescudi delivered a concert of rare intensity. Against a backdrop of celestial projections and hypnotic lighting, he performed iconic tracks such as Day ‘n’ Nite and Pursuit of Happiness, alongside recent songs from his Entergalactic project.
With each chorus, the crowd was carried away by the rapper’s penetrating voice, alternating between whispers and chants. Without technical gimmicks or grand choreography, it was the raw sincerity of his performance that forged a deep connection with the audience. He even spoke emotionally to the crowd: “Being here tonight is magical. Morocco has touched me, and I promise I will return.”
A highlight of the evening was the dedication of Mr. Rager “to those battling their demons.” The audience responded in unison, creating a surprising moment of shared communion between the artist and thousands of festival-goers.
Closing with Ghost!, which resonated as an anthem of inner resilience, the esplanade turned into a suspended space between collective euphoria and reflection. More than just a concert, Kid Cudi offered a full sensory experience a dreamlike pause amid daily life’s chaos.
This magical moment perfectly illustrates the mission of the Mawazine festival: to provide the Moroccan public with an ambitious, eclectic program that looks outward to the world. Kid Cudi’s presence further confirms the festival’s role as a high-level platform for artistic expression, welcoming some of the most unique voices in the international music scene.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this anniversary edition reinforces that Mawazine is more than a musical event it is a celebration of diversity, openness, and the unifying power of music, in a Morocco ever more connected to the global cultural stage.
