Moroccan diaspora transfers surpass 9.45 billion dirhams in January
Funds transferred by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) exceeded 9.45 billion dirhams (MMDH) by the end of January 2025, compared to 9.4 billion dirhams in January 2024, according to the Office des Changes.
This represents a 0.5% increase (+44 million dirhams) compared to the same period in 2024, as highlighted in the Office’s latest monthly report on external trade indicators.
Additionally, the report reveals that the net flow of foreign direct investments (FDI) reached over 3.23 billion dirhams, marking a 16.9% improvement compared to the previous year. Revenues and expenditures for these investments grew by 24.1% to 4.94 billion dirhams and by 40.4% to 1.7 billion dirhams, respectively.
As for the net flow of Moroccan direct investments abroad (IDME), it rose by 812 million dirhams, standing at 723 million dirhams, compared to a negative balance of -89 million dirhams recorded at the end of January 2024.
Receipts (proceeds from these investments) and expenditures increased by 1.7% to 1.5 billion dirhams and by 59.9% to 2.23 billion dirhams, respectively.
