Morocco and Germany Forge Alliance to Propel Sustainable Agriculture
In a historic move, Morocco and Germany solidified their commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture through the second phase of the "Agricultural and Forestry Technical Dialogue" (DIAF) project in Berlin last Saturday. Mohammed Sadiki, the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, and Cem Özdemir, the German Minister of Agriculture and Food, demonstrated unity by signing a pivotal agreement aimed at fostering bilateral cooperation.
The groundbreaking accord places a strong emphasis on boosting organic production and strengthening collaboration between the two nations in the fields of science, innovation, and optimal agricultural practices. Minister Sadiki revealed the initiation of a joint technical working group between Morocco and Germany to deepen future collaboration.
Minister Özdemir underscored the significance of the relations with Morocco, describing them as "very important." He highlighted that the new agreement would propel the partnership to unprecedented heights, particularly in terms of knowledge transfer in organic farming.
The DIAF project revolves around three key pillars: promoting organic agriculture, professionalizing agricultural and forestry organizations, and enhancing planning and control mechanisms for forests.
The meeting provided a platform for the ministers to discuss critical issues affecting food systems, sustainability, and the agricultural sector. Minister Sadiki had previously engaged in discussions with Francesco Lollobrigida, Italy's Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, to reinforce cooperation.
With the visionary agreement now signed, Morocco and Germany have solidified their positions as global leaders in the urgent realm of sustainable food production. Their united front is poised to set a precedent for other nations to emulate.
