Morocco ranks as the 5th safest country in Africa, praised for political stability and low crime rates
Morocco has secured its position as one of Africa’s safest destinations, earning fifth place in a recent ranking by travel agency Altezza Travel. The North African nation’s commitment to national security, political stability, and robust infrastructure has been highlighted as key factors in its high placement.
The ranking, which evaluated eight African countries, was based on a comprehensive analysis of multiple global indexes, including the Global Peace Index, Global Terrorism Index, KOF Globalisation Index, Crime Index, Global Safety Index, and Human Development Index. Morocco’s performance in these metrics underscores its reputation as a secure and stable nation.
Notably, Morocco outperformed countries such as Nepal, France, and China in the Global Peace Index. The report also emphasized that Morocco has a terrorism influence score of zero, with no recorded incidents in recent years. Additionally, its crime rate is lower than that of the UK, the US, New Zealand, and Sweden, further solidifying its status as a safe destination.
In contrast, other African nations, such as Burkina Faso, continue to face significant security challenges, particularly related to terrorism. Morocco’s ability to maintain a secure environment has not only bolstered its domestic stability but also enhanced its appeal as a global tourism hub, attracting millions of visitors annually.
Topping the list of Africa’s safest countries is Mauritius, celebrated for its low crime rates, political stability, and strong economic conditions. Ghana and Zambia follow in second and third places, respectively, while Namibia claims the fourth spot. Tunisia, Egypt, and Tanzania round out the ranking in sixth, seventh, and eighth positions.
Morocco’s achievement reflects its ongoing efforts to prioritize safety and security, positioning it as a leader in Africa and the broader Eastern region. This recognition reinforces its standing as a preferred destination for travelers seeking both adventure and peace of mind.
