Morocco Unveils DHAP: A Bold Move Towards Affordable Homeownership
On January 2nd, a momentous occasion unfolded as the online registration platform for Morocco's Direct Housing Aid Program (DHAP) was officially inaugurated. This groundbreaking initiative, unveiled by Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, is geared towards streamlining property ownership for Moroccan citizens.
Spanning the period from 2024 to 2028, DHAP represents a substantial annual investment of 9.5 billion DH. The primary objective is to provide financial support to households in their pursuit of homeownership, thereby enhancing living conditions and fostering residential stability.
To qualify for direct housing aid, eligibility criteria hinge on the property's value. A sum of 100,000 DH will be granted for the acquisition of a property valued at 300,000 DH or less, inclusive of VAT. For properties falling within the 300,000 DH to 700,000 DH VAT range, direct aid will amount to 70,000 DH.
The online DHAP platform offers a pragmatic solution to citizens by facilitating online registration, dossier tracking, and seamless collaboration among stakeholders. Implementation of this ambitious program is entrusted to CDG/CNRA, with the involvement of the Notary Association to ensure the security of real estate transactions.
A standout feature of DHAP is the capped pricing at 2,500 DH, specifically designed for citizens seeking homes below the 300,000 DH VAT threshold. This approach aims to make homeownership more attainable while reinforcing security and transparency in the property acquisition process. Consequently, DHAP marks a significant stride in the Moroccan government's endeavors to promote housing and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
