Settat: Multidisciplinary medical caravan brings healthcare to rural communities
A multidisciplinary medical caravan was organized on Saturday at the Provincial Hospital of Settat and in the rural commune of Oulad Saïd (Settat province), offering healthcare services to residents of remote and rural areas.
The initiative, continuing through Sunday, is part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) programs aimed at strengthening community healthcare, improving access to medical services in both rural and urban areas, and ensuring that residents of remote regions receive quality basic and specialized medical care.
On this occasion, Ahmed Aït El Khadir, the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Settat, stated that the caravan seeks to bring specialized healthcare services closer to rural populations and to ensure access to essential medical care for underprivileged groups.
He added that the caravan’s services include consultations and treatments in several specialties, such as general and dental medicine, ophthalmology, general surgery, and medical testing for patients suffering from chronic diseases.
The initiative also includes medical training sessions for local doctors and healthcare professionals, as well as educational workshops for children on dental hygiene and environmental protection, alongside various awareness-raising and health education activities.
For his part, Noureddine Bennani, president of the Soufouf Charaf association, explained that the caravan mobilized specialized surgeons from the Provincial Hospital of Settat and more than fifty doctors from the commune of Oulad Saïd, including thirteen dentists.
He added that the association provided a fully equipped mobile medical unit with state-of-the-art equipment, enabling high-quality care delivery.
This medical caravan, supported by advanced technical and logistical resources, is part of broader efforts to bring healthcare services closer to rural communities and to address gaps in access to specialized medical treatment across the province.
