Madrid – Spanish Civil Guard officers have intercepted 33 stolen luxury cars and two motorcycles in the port city of Tarifa, just as they were about to be shipped to Morocco. The operation followed a two-month investigation into an organized cross-border vehicle theft network.

According to Spanish media reports, most of the recovered vehicles were either new or only a few months old. They had been stolen in Spain and several other European countries, including France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands, as well as Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Investigators revealed that the vehicles showed signs of tampered identification numbers, a method commonly used to evade border controls and facilitate illegal exports outside the European Union.

Among the seized models were two Mercedes AMG G63 vehicles, an Audi RS Q8, two Audi RS Q3s, and two Range Rover Sports, with an estimated total value of €1.5 million. The luxury cars were reportedly intended for resale on the African market.

During the same operation, authorities also discovered a van transporting five electric scooters and three electric bicycles, all stolen in France and valued at more than €10,000. In addition, four other stolen vehicles were intercepted outside the port area, also destined for Morocco.

As a result of the operation, five individuals were arrested, while 30 others are under investigation on suspicion of vehicle theft, handling stolen goods, identity theft, document forgery, and financial fraud.

The Spanish Civil Guard has begun contacting the rightful owners of the recovered vehicles to arrange their return. All suspects, seized assets, and official reports have been handed over to the competent judicial authorities.
