Strengthening Morocco’s Automotive Industry Through Strategic Partnerships
In Tangier, two significant partnership agreements were signed on Wednesday to enhance Morocco's automotive industry, as part of the 8th edition of the Automotive Meetings Tangier-Med.
The first agreement involves the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), and the Moroccan Association for the Automotive Industry and Construction (AMICA). Its primary aim is to strengthen the automotive ecosystem by improving skills. The agreement focuses on promoting employment in the automotive sector, supporting its growth by training a pool of qualified talent that meets industry needs, and facilitating recruitment for automotive businesses.
The second agreement, between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and AMICA, focuses on increasing local integration within the automotive industry. The goal is to boost the local value-added content in vehicle and component exports, enhancing the sector's global competitiveness.
To support this agreement, AMICA has engaged a consulting firm to assist in identifying new integration opportunities, outlining project briefs to communicate with professional networks, and finding new candidates for local integration.
It’s noteworthy that in 2024, the automotive sector achieved an export turnover of 157 billion dirhams, marking a 148% growth in less than ten years. This success has cemented Morocco’s position as a leader in African automotive manufacturing and placed it among the world’s most competitive platforms.
Morocco is also emerging as a key player in future mobility. Stellantis’ Kénitra plant is producing three urban electric vehicles exclusively, while Renault has allocated two strategic electric models to its Moroccan sites.
Organized by AMICA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, under the theme “Automotive Industry: Opportunities and Risks,” this event gathers major automotive sector players to discuss pressing topics such as electric cars, connected vehicles, and decarbonization. The three-day event includes B2B meetings, conferences, and roundtables led by industry experts.
