Strengthening Morocco–Qatar Bilateral Ties

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, welcomed Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and member of the Qatari Council of Ministers, during a working visit to Rabat on Thursday. The two officials discussed ways to enhance and expand bilateral relations between Morocco and Qatar, following the strategic guidance of King Mohammed VI and Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The meeting highlighted the deep, historic, and brotherly bonds shared by both countries.

They expressed mutual satisfaction with the recent momentum in their cooperation, which has seen increased high-level ministerial visits and exchanges in key sectors. Bourita reiterated Morocco’s gratitude for Qatar’s continued support regarding the Moroccan identity of the Sahara and the autonomy initiative, emphasizing it as the only viable solution to the dispute, in line with Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The dialogue also touched on pressing regional and international developments. Both sides reaffirmed their unified stance on key Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause. They reiterated full support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, relevant UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
