Marrakech marathon ranks among world's top running events for 2025
The Marrakech Marathon has been recognized as one of the most sought-after marathons globally for 2025, according to the latest Running Report by SportsShoes.com. This recognition comes as the race experiences a remarkable 68% surge in global searches, highlighting its increasing allure for runners from around the world.
Set against the backdrop of the picturesque city of Marrakech, the marathon is celebrated for its scenic course. Participants traverse historic streets, palm groves, and iconic landmarks, making it a unique experience for both seasoned athletes and novices alike. The marathon has now secured the 10th position among the world's most searched marathons, a testament to its growing prominence.
The organizers describe Marrakech as an "Edenic city" that provides an exceptional environment for racing. With a typically mild climate in January and a circuit considered one of the fastest among international marathons, runners enjoy a route lined with palm trees, orange trees, and olive trees, along with the city's historic ramparts.
The report that highlighted the Marrakech Marathon also noted a general rise in interest in competitive running. The Beijing Marathon topped the list with an astounding 386% increase in searches, followed by the Shanghai Marathon (126%) and Japan's Nagoya Women’s Marathon (104%). Other notable races, such as the Seville and Malaga Marathons in Spain, each reported a 78% rise in interest.
Moreover, ultramarathons are also gaining traction, with searches for "ultramarathon near me" climbing by 66% year-on-year. The Namib Race in Namibia emerged as the most trending ultramarathon, boasting a 186% increase in searches.
The Marrakech Marathon's growing recognition underscores not only its appeal but also the broader trend of increasing engagement in running events worldwide.
