Hate speech trial of Isabel Peralta: Neonazi leader faces charges for inciting violence against migrants
The prosecution has called for a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Isabel Medina Peralta, the leader of the neonazi organization NS Bastión Frontal, for "incitement to violence and hostility" against migrants and Moroccan Muslims during a rally on May 18, 2021, outside the Moroccan embassy in Madrid.
Peralta is set to appear next Thursday before the third section of the Provincial Court of Madrid, facing charges for violating fundamental rights through online incitement to discrimination and hate, as her statements were broadcast live on YouTube.
The events in question occurred during the demonstration organized on May 18, 2021, which resulted in five arrests and was a protest against the crisis between Spain and Morocco due to a massive influx of hundreds of people on May 17 and 18, 2021. The unauthorized rally was organized by the far-right group NS Bastión Frontal, described in the indictment as "a violent urban group of neonazi or neo-fascist origin."
The accused led the crowd and made statements to an audience of approximately 250 people, inciting violence and hostility against Moroccan migrants and Muslims, linking immigration to racial and cultural substitution.
The prosecution emphasizes that her statements caused "great agitation and a negative impact among members of the migrant community, as well as among those who practice Islam, and also constituted an affront to the dignity of the targeted individuals."
One of the slogans chanted during the rally, which Peralta also reportedly echoed, was "This is not immigration; it's an invasion," along with phrases like "Christian Spain, not Muslim" and "Against Islam, radical struggle."
The rally was recorded by members of Bastión Frontal, who are not being prosecuted in this case, and was broadcast live on YouTube. A video titled "Patriots protest against the Moroccan invasion in Ceuta" has garnered at least 7,844 views, while another, "Bastión Frontal joins the Patriotic Protest at the Moroccan Embassy," has received 6,956 views. The prosecution has requested the removal of these videos from the internet.
