Blueprint for ethical and sustainable AI growth
A recent report from a global economic forum outlines how artificial intelligence (AI) can drive inclusive economic growth and societal progress. The document emphasizes practical measures focused on innovation, collaboration, and ethical development.
While AI has the potential to reshape economies and societies, ensuring its benefits are shared equitably remains a significant global challenge. The report, titled "Blueprint for Intelligent Economies," offers strategies for leaders to address equity concerns, tailor AI to local needs, and promote long-term sustainable economic growth.
The framework identifies nine strategic objectives to guide AI innovation, development, deployment, and adoption at national, regional, and global levels. Among these, three key priorities stand out for global AI strategies: building sustainable and resilient AI infrastructure, maintaining diverse and high-quality datasets, and establishing robust ethical and security safeguards.
The report, part of the forum’s "Regional Collaboration for AI Competitiveness" initiative, also addresses disparities in AI access, infrastructure, advanced computing, and skills. It provides actionable insights and showcases successful case studies to support governments and other stakeholders in creating more inclusive and resilient AI ecosystems worldwide.
"Leveraging AI for economic growth and societal progress is a shared goal, but starting points differ widely across regions and countries," noted a forum representative. The report serves as a guide for decision-makers, emphasizing impact-driven collaboration and practical solutions to unlock AI's full potential.
Developing national and regional AI strategies that actively involve all stakeholders—including governments, businesses, entrepreneurs, civil society, and users—is crucial to meeting local needs. The report highlights the importance of high-level leadership and close collaboration with local communities to address critical issues such as responsible governance, data privacy, and the local impact of AI policies on innovation and investment.
