Evacuation flights from Israel reach Slovakia and Czech Republic

Amid escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, evacuation efforts are underway, with Slovakia and the Czech Republic among the first European nations to repatriate their citizens. Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that flights carrying evacuees from Israel had successfully landed in both countries.

The Slovak government reported that an evacuation flight arrived in Bratislava late Monday, transporting 73 individuals, including 25 Slovak tourists and five family members of Slovak diplomats stationed in Tel Aviv. Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar stated that Slovakia also assisted in the evacuation of foreign nationals. The flight included 15 Poles, 14 Czechs, nine Austrians, two Slovenians, and one citizen each from Estonia, Spain, and Malaysia.

Blanar added that further evacuations were being coordinated, with another flight scheduled for Tuesday. This upcoming flight is expected to carry citizens from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Latvia, and France.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto expressed gratitude for Slovakia's assistance in helping evacuate seven Hungarian nationals. Meanwhile, Czech Defence Minister Jana Cernochova announced that a separate flight with 66 evacuees from Israel had arrived near Prague.

In addition, Poland stated on Monday that it was arranging for the evacuation of approximately 200 of its citizens from Israel through Jordan.
