Minister Bourita holds bilateral talks at EU–Southern neighbourhood meeting
Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, conducted a series of bilateral meetings on Monday during his participation in the 5th EU–Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial Meeting held in Brussels.
Accompanied by Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Ahmed Reda Chami, Mr. Bourita met with European Commissioner for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica. The discussion centered on enhancing the Morocco-EU partnership, with a particular focus on the upcoming Pact for the Mediterranean—an initiative intended to revitalize cooperation across the Mediterranean within the EU’s neighborhood policy framework.
The Moroccan minister also held talks with Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. They discussed the strategic partnership between Morocco and the EU, as well as various regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Mr. Bourita later met with Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares. The two reviewed the state of bilateral cooperation and explored ways to deepen ties through ongoing dialogue and coordination.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Bourita also engaged in discussions with his counterparts from Jordan, Egypt, and Slovenia, among others.
The 5th EU–Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial Meeting served as a platform for ministers to exchange views on the future Pact for the Mediterranean, which is expected to be presented this fall, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration.
