Morocco launches Arabic cybersecurity platform to bolster digital safety
Bridging the language gap in cybersecurity
BEAMTEL, a Moroccan company specializing in 5G security and critical infrastructure protection, has unveiled CyberPlatform, the country’s first cybersecurity awareness platform fully available in Arabic. Founded by Tibari Jlil, this initiative aims to make digital safety knowledge more accessible to Moroccan citizens, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), institutions, and students, while strengthening Morocco’s national digital sovereignty.
CyberPlatform addresses a significant gap in cybersecurity education. Most online training and tools are offered in English or French, creating accessibility challenges for many Moroccan users. By providing content exclusively in Arabic, the platform seeks to democratize access to essential cybersecurity practices. Jlil emphasizes that this approach not only simplifies learning but also aligns with Morocco’s Law 05-20 on cybersecurity by embedding secure digital habits into everyday life.
The platform offers a variety of resources, including tutorials, practical guides, interactive awareness sessions, and step-by-step advice to protect against phishing, banking scams, identity theft, and data breaches.
Supporting citizens, businesses, and institutions
CyberPlatform is designed to cater to three key groups:
Citizens: As primary targets for cyberattacks, citizens gain access to basic tools for protecting their personal data, in compliance with Law 09-08 on personal data safeguards.
SMEs and micro-enterprises: Representing over 90% of Morocco’s economy, these businesses often lack cybersecurity expertise. The platform provides affordable solutions to manage risks effectively.
Public institutions and educational entities: CyberPlatform supports critical infrastructure security while promoting awareness among students. It encourages schools and universities to integrate cybersecurity training into their curricula.
Cyber risks and Morocco’s digital landscape
Cyberattacks targeting Morocco have grown significantly in recent years. In 2024, Kaspersky reported 12.6 million web attack attempts in the country, placing Morocco among Africa’s most affected nations. An Allianz survey also revealed that nearly 60% of Moroccan companies rank cybersecurity as one of their top business concerns.
These challenges have spurred national efforts, such as the Maroc Digital Strategy and policies led by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI). In 2024, Morocco achieved Tier 1 status in the ITU’s Global Cybersecurity Index, reflecting its advancements in legislation, governance, and capacity-building initiatives.
