Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman chaired a Saudi cabinet session in Neom on Tuesday, providing updates on regional and international matters, including Palestinian statehood and global diplomatic developments.

Focus on Palestine and international support

During the meeting, the crown prince briefed ministers on his recent discussions with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and his phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to support Palestinian statehood and its push for wider international recognition.

Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari reported that the cabinet praised announcements by Australia and New Zealand recognizing the State of Palestine. The ministers welcomed the growing international consensus on a two-state solution based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital.

The cabinet condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, accusing the authorities of occupation, starvation, ethnic cleansing, and other violations of international law. It criticized the UN Security Council and the global community for failing to prevent these actions, warning of the broader risks to international stability.

Other global matters

The cabinet also reviewed developments in Ukraine, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s support for diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. The discussion followed a phone call between the crown prince and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Additionally, the council welcomed the announcement of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing optimism for lasting stability in the region.
