Shaping the Future of Tourism: Marrakech Hosts Innovation & Investment Conference
Marrakech is set to host the International Conference on Technological Innovation and Tourism Investment on January 28, 2025. This event, organized by the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) and the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy, in close collaboration with UN Tourism, will focus on the dynamic relationship between innovation and investment in the tourism sector.
The conference will bring together key figures, including Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Fatim Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, Karim Zidane, the Minister Delegate for Investment, and Imad Barrakad, Director-General of SMIT. Prominent experts in the tourism and investment sectors will also participate, sharing their insights on cutting-edge trends in tourism and the role of innovation in shaping the future of the industry.
A key objective of the conference is to create a unique platform for discussing the latest global trends in technological innovation applied to tourism. It aims to encourage investments in smart solutions and promote the digital growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector.
Beyond discussions, the event will include an awards ceremony celebrating excellence in innovation. The ceremony will recognize the most promising startups that participated in a competition organized by SMIT in partnership with UN Tourism.
Imad Barrakad, Director-General of SMIT, emphasized that the conference represents more than just an event. It marks a pivotal moment in shaping the future of Moroccan tourism, one that meets the expectations of new generations of travelers, with an emphasis on private and individual initiatives in line with Royal Directives.
