British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of reducing tensions in the Middle East and urged Iran to reengage in diplomatic talks during recent phone conversations with the leaders of Jordan and Oman.

According to his office, Starmer discussed the critical risks associated with Iran's nuclear program in a call with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik al Said of Oman, reaffirming the UK's call for Iran to return to negotiations. Both leaders agreed that escalating the conflict would be counterproductive and stressed the need to focus on peaceful de-escalation, particularly in light of recent U.S. strikes on Iran.

In a separate conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Starmer also urged Iran to pursue a diplomatic resolution by returning to the negotiating table.
