Dietary supplements, defined as concentrated sources of nutrients designed to complement the diet, and functional foods, known for their benefits beyond basic nutrition, are gaining significant attention. This shift reflects a growing consumer desire to take a proactive approach to their health.
However, this trend raises valid concerns. The FAO report stresses that the safety of active ingredients depends on various factors such as their origin, processing methods, and concentration levels.
