World Liberty Financial’s (WLFI) crypto token, linked to Donald Trump and his family, has officially launched, transforming from a symbolic concept into a tangible, tradable asset. First announced on September 16, 2024, as a governance token with unclear trading intentions, WLFI went live on major cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance, OKX, and Bybit on September 1, 2025. Early investors can access only 20% of their holdings, with the remainder subject to community voting.

Market reception and value shifts

WLFI’s launch caused ripples in the crypto market. Initially valued at over $0.30, the token’s price dropped nearly 50% to $0.23 after its debut. Despite this volatility, WLFI achieved a peak market capitalization of approximately $7 billion, securing its place among the top 30 cryptocurrencies globally. Analysts credit the token’s symbolic association with Trump for sparking speculation, though it remains far from Bitcoin or Ethereum’s scale.

Early backers, who participated in seed rounds at $0.015 and $0.05 per token, face cautious returns as 80% of their holdings remain locked. This staggered release aims to prevent market instability while testing the token’s sustainability.

Role of SIX MINING

SIX MINING, a key player in WLFI’s ecosystem, provides computational power and node support to stabilize the token’s network. Through mining contracts, users can earn WLFI while contributing to the system. Supporters believe this “trade plus mine” model enhances the token’s utility beyond speculation.

Impact on Trump family’s wealth

The Trump family holds approximately 22.5 billion WLFI tokens, representing a quarter of the total supply. At launch, their holdings reached a paper valuation of $5 billion, making WLFI their most valuable asset outside real estate. Some estimates suggest this figure peaked at $6 billion during early trading. Prior to the public rollout, the family reportedly secured $500 million through private sales.

Governance concerns and frozen wallets

The launch was not without controversy. WLFI froze several wallets, including those of high-profile figures like Justin Sun, citing phishing concerns. Critics questioned the token’s decentralization, accusing its creators of heavy-handed control. On-chain data suggests, however, that market makers and large sellers—not wallet freezes—drove the early price declines.

Ethical and regulatory scrutiny

WLFI’s rollout has reignited debates over potential conflicts of interest. With the Trump family maintaining a controlling stake in World Liberty Financial, critics argue that the token’s launch blurs ethical lines, especially as Donald Trump remains in office. The monetization of political influence via blockchain has drawn attention from regulators and ethics watchdogs alike.

As WLFI transitions from political speculation to a blockchain reality, its long-term impact on both the crypto market and the Trump family’s financial landscape remains to be seen.
