Over 400 arrested in London at Palestine action support rally
London, September 7, 2025 – More than 400 people were arrested on Saturday in London during a demonstration supporting the group Palestine Action, adding to hundreds of other arrests across the UK since the organization was banned.
The Metropolitan Police had warned they would detain anyone displaying explicit support for the movement, classified as "terrorist" by the UK government in early July after acts of vandalism, including on an air force base. Despite the warning, hundreds gathered near the British Parliament, holding signs reading “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”
Tensions rose as police attempted to arrest participants, with officers reportedly being struck, spat upon, and hit by objects thrown by protesters. The police reported that over 425 people were arrested, most for supporting a banned organization and more than 25 for assaulting officers.
Supporters argued that Palestine Action is not a terrorist organization. Some, like 62-year-old Nigel, denounced the government’s ban as misplaced, emphasizing the need to focus on halting the alleged genocide in Gaza rather than stopping demonstrations.
Since July, over 800 people have already been arrested for supporting or inciting support for the organization, with potential prison sentences ranging from six months to 14 years for organizers. Co-founder Huda Ammori is scheduled to challenge the ban in court this November.
